About our placements

We offer one-year programming placements, starting in June/July each year. You'll quickly become a vital member of our team, and you'll work alongside our highly experienced developers on exciting projects. It's a fantastic opportunity to work on some of our high profile products - giving you the head start you need for your career.

You'll be helping to build and maintain our wide range of systems such as the UK export licensing database and eCase, our correspondence and FOI handling product. Full training is provided, and you'll be given the opportunity to gain Oracle Certified Associate status in your first few months with us.

We offer a salary of £23,000+ pa and benefits including health cover and monthly social events.

Responsibilities will include

  • Developing complex web applications using Oracle PL/SQL and our internal FOXopen framework (full training provided)
  • Collaborating with other team members, testers and more senior developers
  • Use of bug tracking and version control systems (Jira and Perforce)


  • An undergraduate eligible for a one-year industrial placement in 2016-2017
  • A minimum (predicted) 2:1 honours degree in Computer Science or equivalent IT-related discipline
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Experience writing software in one of the following languages (or similar): Java, C, C++, C#, PHP, Ruby. We provide full training so we're looking for people who love programming, no matter what languages you know
