Full Stack Developer

We're a nimble IT company, built up of industry-leading experts, driving the digital transformation of the UK public sector. We are passionate about building software that is essential, usable, robust and cutting-edge.

We work with the largest government departments, including the Ministry of Defence, Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, HM Treasury and the Oil and Gas Authority.

Our projects include the UK export licensing service, the UK Energy Portal, and eCase, our correspondence, parliamentary questions and FOI handling product, used by five major government organisations.

About the role

As we continue to grow, we are looking for full stack developers who share our vision and passion. You will quickly get stuck in as part of a close-knit cross-functional team, building, delivering and supporting diverse web applications. To produce excellent software, you will engage with our customers, influence the direction of both technical and product design, and create novel features for complicated user stories.

With your team members, you will select the right technology for the job; some of the things we've used in the past year include: FOXopen, Oracle Database, Puppet, the Play 2 Framework, Sparkjava, Dropwizard, Selenium, Cucumber, Docker and Kubernetes, along with all the web essentials (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, XML and JSON).

Our developers work with the best tools money can buy, have large widescreen monitors, and work in a bright, modern office suited to the team collaboration that we thrive on. We use agile in the truest sense – favouring people over process and continuously improving how we work. We have a casual dress code and flexible working hours.

Reward package

We offer a starting salary of between £37,000 - £42,000 pa (depending on skills and experience), and excellent benefits, including: annual profit share, private health cover, and free bar in the office for Friday drinks! Non-alcoholic drinks are included. You will also get to enjoy our monthly social events, like go-karting, urban golf, bowling, ping pong at Bounce and visiting Cirque du Soleil.

Requirements

We're not looking for knowledge of particular programming languages - we're interested in programming skill, problem solving ability and an eye for what makes a great system that people will want to use.

You will have:

  • 3+ years' professional experience in a software or web development role
  • Experience with SQL, database modelling and programming
  • Experience of working directly with clients to gather requirements and feedback
  • Strong attention to detail

You must be eligible to work in the UK and must be able to obtain security clearance to work with the UK government.
